Polenta is an excellent low-calorie food made from ground corn. It has a rich yellow, yolk-like colour, and has a slightly sweet flavour. An Italian storecupboard staple, polenta has its roots in the peasant cuisine of northern Italy. You can use it in place of mashed potato, and it pairs really well with practically any main meal, from Italian and Mediterranean dishes to stews, gravy dishes, curries and more. Polenta makes a delicious addition or gluten-free alternative to flour in cakes, biscuits and pastries.

Ingredients:

100% Organic Corn


Cooking Instructions:

Bring water to a boil.

Add the polenta and stir for a few minutes to avoid any lumps.

Cook for around 5-10 minutes over a low heat, stirring often until it starts to thicken. To add extra flavour, you can boil polenta in a mix of half water, stock or milk. Add a knob of butter, a handful of cheese or nutritional yeast.

Serve when desired texture is reached.
