Native to Southwest Asia, peas are one of the oldest-known crops gathered in the wild. Commonly used in medieval Europe to make split pea soup and pease pudding. Yellow split peas are delicious and highly versatile. Throw them into soups, stews, broths, casseroles, pies, pastries, dals or kitcheris.

Split peas are the mature form of peas: the dried seeds of peas are peeled and then split, increasing the surface area of the pea. As a result, split peas don’t need to be soaked and cook more quickly than whole peas.


Cooking Instructions:

Add to pan, cover and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat and simmer, tilting the lid slightly to allow steam to escape.

Cook for up to 60 minutes, or until tender.
